New Company I Joined

I love candles and have been with many home-based candle companies that have had to close for one reason or another.  So, after some thought I joined For Every Home which offers candles, melts and warmers along with home products.

I am trying to reach a goal by January 15th to have $500 in sales to earn a free kit.  I would love to offer you some of these amazing products.  You can book online parties and earn free hostess gifts.  Below is the January Hostess Gift.

Catching Up

I have been busy lately with job hunting, making new crafts, setting up at craft shows and trying to figure out how to open a brick and mortar store with no money.

After a failed attempt setting up a flea market booth (customers at this particular flea market did not want handmade items, only junk and imports) I have checked around at the craft malls and either they're full or they are asking too much for what they have to offer.  So, we decided to check into an actual store where I can sell my stuff and take other people's crafts and direct sale items as consignment or a direct rental each month.  Finding a small retail space is hard.  I found one that's very very affordable but it's about a 10 minute drive (on a good day) from Tulsa.  The space is 800 sq feet which is perfect.  I don't need a huge space.  We would prefer something closer but everything is pricey or it's way too big.

I am at a point in my job hunting that I am so burned out and about to give up.  I've had interviews but nothing has come out of any of those.  One interview I went on I was feeling very good about it and thought I had a great shot at the job, but no word from them in 2 weeks and they wanted someone to start last week so obviously I didn't get it.

Anyway, I have been creating new things.  I have some adorable Paper Rosette Ornaments I made.  I placed bottlecaps, bling or other embellishments.  They are 4" and 5" in diameter.  I am also trying to make some little 2" ones that can be put on presents like a bow or add a magnet on them.  Here are some of my newest creations.

To see more of these go to my Bonanza booth Lynn's Country Corner.  They have a category all their own.

Make Your Own Laundry Soap!!!

With grocery prices going through the roof anymore and especially cleaning supplies, I was given this recipe for homemade laundry soap.  I haven't made it yet but plan on it very soon.  A friend of my mother's has used this recipe for years.  It makes 2-5 gallon buckets of soap.

All items are/should be available at Walmart but if you can't find them all there, Target or KMart might have them too.  I only know that I was told all ingredients can be found at the Walmarts around here in NE Oklahoma.

Laundry Soap

1 bar of Fels Naptha Soap**** or Ivory Soap, grated
2 c. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Wash for Laundry
2 c. Borax Laundry Booster

Grate the soap and add it to a large pot of water, heat and stir until the soap is melted.  Pour into a 5 gallon bucket and add your 2 cups of Soda and Borax.  Stir well.

Fill the bucket halfway with water, stir well.  Cover and leave until next day.  On the next day, stir again and pour half of the solution into another 5 gallon bucket.  Fill both buckets with water, stir.

It's now ready to use.  You can use old laundry detergent bottles and fill them up.  Always stir or shake the laundry soap before using.

You will still need to use bleach or stain treaments in your laundry.

Use 1 cup per load of laundry.

****I have never heard of this soap and I hope I got the spelling right.  I could not find it listed on the Walmart website and haven't had a chance to go to a Walmart store to look for it.  If this is not the correct spelling, please let me know and I will correct it.

New Creations

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I've posted.  Lots going on lately.  Along with everyday life, I've just been busy.

On July 31 we closed our flea market booth.  It just wasn't working.  We were in the wrong place.  This particular flea market crowd isn't interested in quality handmade items.  After being there for a month I watched them carry around cheap imported stuff, junk, ugly ugly fashion and accessories and well just about everything my booth wasn't.  So, we closed up.  I am sticking with my craft shows and there is one flea market that I do good at but it's a hassle to set up and take down each Saturday.  This one gears towards antiques and crafts and I have always done decent there.

I have been working on new creations in the meantime.  Besides designing my own own bottlecap images, I have also been designing images to make ceramic tile magnets and also I have been designing address labels.

All these can be seen in my Bonanza booth Lynn's Country Corner

Here are just a few examples of my Ceramic Tile Magnet designs.

Here are a few address labels I have made.

Last Saturday we had a severe storm blow through our section of the city.  We were not at home at the time but we were in a suburb just north of the city. We actually watched the storm to the south but at the time did not realize how bad it was.  We got home just shortly after the storm had moved away and we were just amazed at the damage.  We got home and didn't have power.  Our neighbor told us a limb fell in our backyard so we're thinking OK maybe a medium sized limb or something.  OH NO!!!!! We went into our backyard and there was a HUGE limb from the huge old tree that sits along our back fence.  I kid you not, this limb is about as long or longer than a huge school bus and the widest part of the limb is at least a foot in diameter.  This thing covered our backyard and came within a few feet of hitting our house.  We were lucky on that and the fact that it missed our power and cable lines going to the house.  Otherwise we would've had some very serious damage to our electrical going into the house.  We were without power for about 9 hours (oh and I forgot to mention that the day before there was a water main break and we didn't have water for over 10 hours due to that).  So now, we have this mess in the backyard and are still trying to figure out how to get it cleaned up because we are broke and cannot afford to have someone come and clean it up.   What's really sad about this is that not even 2 weeks ago we did have someone come out and haul branches, trash, leaves and other debris from our backyard.  It was all nice and clean.  We were forced to do it and had to pay someone to do it even though we did not have the extra to spare.  So now as I said we are just at our wits end on this.

Well, now that I've shared my crazy life I shall end here.  :)

Wow, What An Experience!!!

What I have experienced since last Friday I hope NEVER to have to experience again.  I woke up Friday morning and when I started to move my head, the whole world was spinning and I felt soooo sick.  I managed to get up and almost fell just trying to make it across the hall.  What I was experiencing was vertigo.  The entire day on Friday I couldn't move much, especially my head, otherwise I would feel very nauseated.  I was to be at our flea market booth that afternoon but with the way I felt, there was no possible way.  I tried to read up on it on the internet (as long as I kept my head still) and there are many diagnosis.  One in particular stood out called Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that described EXACTLY what I was going through.  Saturday I felt slightly better.  I took some Dramamine and managed to make it through the day at our flea market.  Sunday was a little better too.  Again, took some Dramamine.  Yesterday I felt even better and didn't take any Dramamine and made it through OK.  I think today I'm starting to get back to normal.  I still feel wobbly when I turn real fast when walking or standing up.  I still get a little off balance if I turn my head too fast.  But, I am not walking "drunk" as I liked to call as much as I was this weekend.  I still don't dare bend down because I will be off balance.  Last night I almost lost my balance when moving a pan of hot elbow macaroni to the collander in the sink.  That wouldn't of been good if I dumped scalding hot water on me.  I was lucky I caught myself.

If anyone has ever experienced this you know how it feels.  Just imagine as a kid going in circles really really fast until you were so dizzy you couldn't stand straight or you made yourself sick.  That is what it feels like only worse and it doesn't go away fast.  I've read where some people have had it for weeks to even months.  There is no way I could handle that.  I hope this is the first and the very last time I have this horrible experience.

Finally Able to Update!!!

Wow. this month has just flown by.  I guess I had too much going on and didn't get a chance to get caught up on here.

I have been busy crafting.  I got a new toy and now I am doing some new projects.

I am now making bottlecaps.  I have started designing my own images (although I did buy a few already designed).  I have about 10 image sets designed and working on more.  I have several of them listed in my Bonanza booth already.  I am not selling the image sets themselves right now but I am doing them on bottlecap magnets or you can request a special listing for the bottlecaps themselves, no magnets.

Here are just a few of the image sets I have designed.  I love whimsical, cute, primtive and creative things.

You can view these and my other images set in my Bonanza booth Lynn's Country Corner.

Joplin, MO

Please keep everyone in Joplin, MO in your thoughts and prayers.  The town was devastated by a tornado yesterday (May 22).  They are saying over 30% of the town was destroyed and as of now, 116 are confirmed dead and expected to rise.  This is so sad.

We live only about 1 1/2 hours from Joplin and go there quite a bit.  We frequent the flea market there and go shopping or eat at the restaurants that are on Range Line Road which was the street that was pretty much wiped out.  From the pictures I have seen so far nothing is recognizable.  Everything is just flattened.

We are going through there this coming Saturday on our way to Springfield, MO and I want to stop to try and get some pictures but it depends on how far we can get into the town.  As of now they are not letting anyone in unless they are helping with the cleanup and have some form of medical certification.

So, please everyone, pray for those who have lost their homes, loved ones, businesses, pets and possessions.

Adding New Items

I set up a new storefront on BluJay to add my cute little die-cut paper piecing characters.  I have many of them listed in 4 different size groups.  I can make them bigger too but that will be a custom listing.  Right now they are available from 2 3/4" to 5 3/4".

Here is what one of them looks like.  This is the bride and groom set I have.

I can also do them in different colors.

Need a Custom Order???

If you see a card, coaster set, any paper crafting or even the baked potato bags but you would like a different color, design, shape, etc... on it than I will gladly do custom orders.  I have done several custom orders for my fabric coaster sets.

A note on Collegiate and NFL fabrics--I can do custom orders but some teams are hard to find and/or the fabric is overly priced such as on Ebay or other sites.  If you request a certain fabric that is hard to find, the cost may be slightly higher.  Now if you want OSU or OU fabric no problem.  LOL.

I can do sets of matching greeting cards, note cards, thank you cards, etc...  Plus I can do invitations to baby showers, bridal showers, graduations and more.

Just contact me if you would like a special/custom order.

Less Than Two Weeks Away

My first craft show of the year is less than two weeks away and I am working on some adorable paper piecing projects to sell as scrapbook or card embellishments or they can even be made into magnets or some into puppets.  All are cut using my Cricut and I am piecing them together.  I have a pile of pieces sitting here in front of me I need to get busy with.  I have about 25 already completed and maybe as much or more almost ready.  Then I have the others I need to start on.  Still have more pieces to cut out.  Had to give my Cricut a break for awhile.  Poor thing was getting overworked.

So, off to work on more crafts.  Then I've still got some Mother's Day, Father's Day and Graduation cards yet to do.

Getting There

I made a couple more gift bags and some cards over the weekend.  Still not close to being done with what I need to finish but it seems like I never get that far.

I have a huge tote of Teeny Beanie Babies I am going to use for a craft project and if I can just get the rest of the supplies I need I will have one pending project finally completed.  I won't spill the beans yet on what that is.  When I finally get them started I will list some in my Bonanza booth.

I have to get on the ball and be productive this week.  Not only do I have crafts to do but I have schoolwork that needs to be completed (taking a correspondence course in Medical Transcription).  So my "playing" on the computer this week will be limited.

So off to do some stuff.  Have a great day everyone.

Countdown!

My first craft show of the year is April 30th.  It's a show I've done for the past 4 years now and this will be my 5th.  Great show with lots of vendors and lots of shoppers.  I always do good.  So, now it's going to be crunch time soon to get all of my projects done that I need to get done.  April is a busy month for us so all my weekends are spoken for to get anything done.

As of today I have 24 days to complete all projects and be ready.  It will go very fast too.

New to Blogging

After many many thoughts on blogging (should I, shouldn't I) I just decided to bite the bullet and try my hand at blogging.  I am not much of a creative writer, in fact writing was not my favorite thing in school.

I hope to add things to this blog to make it interesting but as I do this I will still be learning how to blog.

I love animals, especially cats so I plan on adding my cat stories on here.  We have six spoiled cats and they are unique in their own ways.

Along the way I want to add topics of all different kinds.  Not sure what they will be yet.  I will figure them out as I go.
